St. John de Matha in the Philippines

Two weeks ago our page received a message asking for assistance for the Mass Proper, prayers and songs for the feast of St. John de Matha. The request and inquiry came as a total surprise as the presence of the Order is very new to the country and did not have knowledge of any existing devotees of our founder.
The inquiry came from the Fr. Moenil Lapa, current Parish Priest of Parroquia de Virgen delos Remedios, a remote parish in Guindarohan in the southern town of Minglanilla, Cebu. The Parish has chosen St. John de Matha as the "Segunda Patron" due to fact that our Founder while fulfilling his call and mission, was generously aided by the Blessed Mother. Thus, our Founder bestowed on Mary the Title, Our Lady of Good Remedy and promoted the devotion to her while giving the highest honor to the Most Holy Trinity.
As Trinitarians we are delighted that St.John de Matha came to the Philippines in providence ahead of his Order. With the assistance of Rev. Fr. Richard Giner OSST, the Superior of the Philippine Mission, and through the guidance of the Provincial Rev. Fr. Albert Anuszewski OSST, the Order was able to provide the Mass Proper, Prayers and Songs for the Feast.
The Mission sent the Tertiaries to attend the fiesta celebration on behalf of the Order and saw the faith and esteem of the village to their Patron Saint.
Currently, the infant parish is building a Church under the patronage of Our Lady and to St. John de Matha. There is much to be desired in terms of resources: financial or material in order to complete the project, and to have the dream of the people to have a church they can call their own.
